Rain gauge 3029

Range of Rain Gauges from Précis mécanique

The rain gauge 3029 provides accurate real-time precipitation measurements in millimeters (mm or L/m²) with a resolution of 0.1, 0.2, or 0.5 mm depending on the model used.

Each time the tipping bucket tips, the system produces two dry contacts (pulses), and the measured precipitation value simply corresponds to the number of pulses recorded multiplied by the model's resolution.

The rain gauge 3029 can be coupled with a heater to measure frozen precipitation (freezing rain, snow) in difficult climatic conditions.

Very easy to use and requiring minimal maintenance, this rain gauge generates contacts that can be used by most acquisition systems.

Applications

Recording, visualization, and analysis of precipitation data:

  • Hydrology and Watershed Management: flood modeling, dam and reservoir design, hydrological studies
  • Civil Engineering and Urban Planning: design and management of sewerage networks (design flows, spill analysis), infrastructure design, flood prevention, urban development
  • Agriculture and Irrigation: irrigation optimization, soil management
  • Environmental Engineering: pollution monitoring, environmental impact studies, water resource monitoring
  • Winter Maintenance (Transport Engineering): snow and ice detection

Main benefits

  • Proven robustness (more than 24,000 tipping bucket rain gauges installed in 70 countries)
  • Easy to install and maintain
  • Accuracy of +/- 5% up to 150 mm/h
  • Works in all climates, with appropriate resolution and heating system
  • No power consumption: the sensor does not need to be powered, unless it is equipped with a heater
  • Rainfall data can be used by most acquisition systems
  • Dual output allowing operation by two independent or redundant acquisition systems
  • Minimal maintenance: quarterly service visit and occasional cleaning of the cone
  • Significant reduction in the risk of clogging due to solidification of deposits thanks to the 7 mm flow diameter and the double oblong nozzle on the cover
